Step-by-step tutorial – Rename a file or folder in File Manager – cPanel

  1. Login to cPanel.

    Tutorial: login from the Client Area or the direct link.

    Find Files section and click the File Manager link.

  2. Rename a File or a Folder

    Locate the file or folder you want to rename.
    Right-click on the item you want to rename and select the Rename option.
    or
    Select the Rename link in the Task Bar Menu.

  3. The Rename Window

    The Rename Window Opens.
    New file/folder name:
    Type in the file or folder’s new name.

    Click the Rename File/folder button.

  4. You will see the newly renamed file or folder within your cPanel file structure view.

    You cannot rename a file/folder to match another file/folder name within the same directory/location.
