Softaculous is an auto-installer that makes installing web apps easy. With Softaculous, you can install some of the most popular hosting software in the industry on your cPanel server. They offer automatic updates and add new software to their library regularly.

WordPress (WPWordPress.org) is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) written in PHP and paired with a database. WordPress was created as a blog-publishing system but has evolved to support other web content types. One of the most popular content management system solutions in use, WordPress is used by 42.8% of the top 10 million websites as of October 2021.

Step-by-step tutorial – Install WordPress using Softaculous – cPanel

  1. Softaculous Apps Installer

    Login to cPanel.
    Tutorial: login from the Client Area or from the direct link.

    Find the Software section and click the Softaculous Apps Installer link.

  2. Softaculous Dashboard

    Click the Blogs link in the left menu.
    Then Click first Link WordPress.
    Click the Install Now button.
    or
    Click the Install button under the WordPress icon.

  3. Details of your WordPress installation

    Software Setup
    Choose Installation URL
    Choose the domain you wish to install in WordPress.

    In the In Directory field, you can specify the root folder for a WordPress installation. 
    By default, this field is empty, and it allows installing WordPress on yourdomain.com directly.
    If you wish to install it to a subfolder, like yourdomain.com/blog, simply type “blog” in this field.

    Choose the version you want to install.

  4. Admin Account and Plugins

    Admin Username
    – Choose the username to be used for WordPress admin account
    Your username should not have special characters, spaces, or be your email address or never just admin. Keep it simple and easy for you to remember.
    Admin Password
    – Choose the password to be used for WordPress admin account
    Click the key icon to autogenerate the password.
    Admin Email
    – Choose the email to be used for WordPress admin account

    Select Plugins
    Select plugins you want to install with the WordPress installation.

  5. Select Theme

    If you want, you can select and install a free WordPress theme with the WordPress installation.
    Or you can leave it for WordPress to install its default theme.

    Once finished, click the Install button.

  7. Installation Completed

    You will see the success message as shown in the screenshot below when the installation is completed.
    Access the WordPress admin panel and/or WordPress site.

    You can now start working on your website.
