Learn How to Extract Files using File Manager – cPanel. The files uploaded in the cPanel can be compressed and uncompressed using File Manager. The files compressed in zip archive format can be uncompressed easily by extracting it in the specific folder.

Step-by-step tutorial – Extract Files using File Manager – cPanel

  1. Upload Compressed file (IF you don’t need to upload the file, skip to step 4)

    Login to cPanel.
    Tutorial: login from the Client Area or the direct link.

    Find the Files section and click the File Manager link.
    Navigate to the directory where you want to upload the file in the File Manager Current Folder section.
    Click the Upload icon located in the Task Bar.

  2. File Upload Page

    Overwrite existing files
    – Check this box if you want to overwrite a file on the server that has the same filename
    Drop files here to start uploading
    or
    Click the Select File button.

    Navigate to the file’s location on your computer and click Open.
    The file uploads immediately, showing the progress bar and uploaded bytes.
    After Upload, click the Go Back button.

  4. Extract

    Right-click on the item and select the Extract option.
    or
    Select the item and click the Extract button located in the Task Bar.

  5. Extract Window

    In Extract Window, type the directory path where files should be extracted.
    Click the Extract Files button.

  6. Extraction Results Window

    Extraction Results Window opens up when the Extraction has successfully finished.
    Click the Close button.

  7. Delete after extraction (optional)

    If you want to delete the zip file after extraction:
    Click the Delete button in the Task Bar
    or 
    Right-click and select the Delete option in the drop-down menu.

  8. Trash window

    Trash Window:
    Skip trash and permanently delete the files
    Check the box If you want to delete the file permanently.
    Leave the box unchecked if you want the file to go into the trash to be manually deleted later.

    Click Confirm to delete the file.
