Change a MySQL Database User’s Password – cPanel

Learn how to Change a MySQL Database User’s Password in cPanel. MySQL is the most popular Open Source SQL Database management system. To manage a large volume of data efficiently, we store the data in tables, a group of many tables can be created in a single database.
If you have a PHP-based application, you will need to have a database. You will also need a user to access this database. To use WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, or any other CMS, you need a MySQL database.

Step-by-step tutorial – Change a MySQL Database User’s Password – cPanel

  1. MySQL Databases

    Login to cPanel.
    Tutorial: login from the Client Area or the direct link.

    Find the Databases section and click the MySQL Databases link.

  2. Current Users

    Scroll down to Current Users section.
    Click the Change Password in the Actions column beside the User that you want to change.

  3. Set MySQL User Password

    Password
    – type the user password.
    Type a secure password in the Password text box.
    Enter a secure password in the text box.
    Password must have at least 8 characters, must contain at least three character categories among the following:
    Uppercase characters (A-Z),
    Lowercase characters (a-z),
    Digits (0-9),
    Special characters (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|(){}[]:;”‘<>,.?/)
    The system will evaluate the password that you enter on a scale of 100. A weak password has 0 value, while a very secure password has 100 value. Or you can click Password Generator to let the system create a secure password for you. 

    Password (Again)
    – retype the user password.
    Click the Change Password button.

  4. Wait for the success message.
